Building a research material handling record
A consistent receiving record helps a research team preserve traceability from delivery through controlled storage. It should be tailored to the facility’s procedures, safety program, and the material’s documentation.
At receiving
Record the delivery date, supplier, catalog identifier, lot number, quantity, package condition, and the location of supporting documentation. Compare package labels to the order and COA, then document any exception before material is released to inventory.
During storage and use
Assign an internal identifier, record the designated storage conditions from the applicable documentation, and maintain access controls appropriate to your laboratory.
